Two of my coworkers in patient transport services and a nurse was involved, as well as our manager and the nurse manager. There was no prior relationship, besides the difference in authority levels when considering the managers that were involved. This conflict occurred at work at the hospital, and it started as an informal conflict but resolved as a formal conflict, which was not planned. My coworker picked up a job to take a patient to a procedure, so she had to attempted to call the nurse via our technological device to gain information needed to proceed with the job. No nurse answered, neither did any employee on the entire unit. Another one of my coworkers overheard this and decided to make an urgent broadcast call to every single employee on the unit. The message given consisted of something along the lines of “You guys need to answer your phones if you want transportation to take your patients to their proceduresâ€. This comment was made public to the whole unit and held an assertive tone. Our manager then got involved and reached out to the nursing manager for that unit to discuss the problem and a possible resolution. A resolution was met, and both parties were forgiven for what had transpired.
