Alternative_Assignment_____Field_Experience_D_Complete.docx SEC- 345 Alternative Assignment – Field Experience D As I was viewing the video for this assignment there is a specific type of literacy that is used known as disciplinary literacy, but it is still that of literacy. It is a form of literacy that takes what the students are reading and writing and taking ownership of it. The video does not show how this is possible in just English, but Math and History as well. From what I have viewed, assessment is determined by allowing the students to do these things by themselves and do the actual work and not just a worksheet. As the teachers in the video continue to work with the students, they notice that the feedback given is mainly from the students. When the students are engaged in their work it can be seen not just in their assignments but also on their face. From the video, the impression I received is that the feedback they receive from their teacher is a positive one and one that pushes the students forward. The information used is not a “all or nothing†type of thing but something that keeps the students growing according to the video. It is more like, that is good now let us see how we can improve it. When it comes to selecting literacy materials, I would most likely utilize a reading list and with various books that all my students might know. It is then that I would have them vote on what they would like to read. This gives my students a choice and a say within the classroom.
