The good sleep better, but the bad seem to enjoy the waking hours much more.†When it comes to making ethical decisions in the behavioral health professions, not everything is black and white. Thankfully, there are more then a few codes of ethics out there; for example, the American Counseling Association (ACA), the American Association for Christian Counselors (AACC), and the American Psychological Association (APA). While almost all the ethical codes out there have similar topics, they can say different things about those topics. In this paper, a discussion about the similar topics in three of these codes of ethics and how each one defines that topic, specifically the American Counseling Association, the American Association for Christian Counselors, and the American Psychological Association codes of ethics. In the American Counseling Association, the American Association for Christian Counselors, and the American Psychological Association codes of ethics; there are three topics that all three ethical codes strongly address: confidentiality, assessment, and resolving ethical issues. All three have a great importance on confidentiality with disclosure information and limits to confidentiality.
