Cultural_Communication_Practice_paper__3_.docx(1) COM-263 Cultural Communication Practices Paper Growing up in America and being raised a certain way we tend to form our own worldviews and create... these normalities in our heads that ultimately are not normalities to others who are raised differently. It is important to try to get out of our comfort zones and stay open- minded to different cultures and ways of living and the way that other people are raised, especially as Christians because we are all Gods children and made in His image. The Chinese culture has many differences when compared to some American cultural patterns. For example, according to Rebecca Graf, Respect is a main difference in the cultures and we can see the difference because in China your reputation is connected to the respect that you give. In America, we are more selfish and concerned with our own self-image and this is somehow accepted whereas if this happened in China the person would be shunned in the Chinese society (Graf, 2019). In China, the people hold themselves to a very high standard and are held accountable by others in society to make sure they stick to the standard. On the other hand, in America, society has a different mindset that implies that everyone should do what feels right to them. There is a different mentality within these two cultures that makes them what they are.
