Professor Hardy and class, The five major functions of human resources are recruiting, selecting, training, induction, and placement (Uhl-Bien, Schermerhorn, &Osborn, 2014). The most important function is training personnel, which falls into one of the main responsibilities of human resource management: developing a quality workforce. The ability to recruit and select depends heavily upon the available pool of applicants, and it is absolutely critical that a human resource manager can develop any input into productive and valuable additions to the team. Each of the functions is very important to the operation of a business, but it is recruitment and placement that is perhaps the most strategically linked to the business as a whole.
