School district websites are a quick and relatively inexpensive way to disseminate information and strengthen ties in the community. According to Piper (2012), â€œschool websites support community outreach and help families establish home environments to support their child as studentsâ€ (p. 1). In todays technologically advanced society, online resources are the most likely starting place for information seekers. Prospective families may access a schools website before making the final decision to enroll their child (Gilleece & Evivers, 2018). As a result, school websites are now being used to make first impressions and maintain relationships with schools and their surrounding community. School websites are important to the public and this requires them to be appealing and user friendly. Thought should go into the design and functionality of every aspect of the site so that the end user has the best experience possible and gets the information they need.
