People go through a vast array of different lif... e experiences around the globe because of these causes intercultural relationships to form. These relationships look so different for everyone because the people could be different in age, race, or religion. Intercultural relationships form because there is a balance of both differences and similarities between the two people (Martin, 2007). They can be very beneficial because it allows people to learn from the other person's beliefs. Many who are in interpersonal relationships will gain knowledge, get new skills and lifestyles from their friend. Being able to communicate with other cultures is important. The world can only function effectively because we understand other cultures and have intercultural relationships. If the world was not able to communicate and understand other cultures, it would not function effectively. It is a beneficial skill to have. The way a person™s culture affects how they develop relationships can be observed through many factors. The social norm looks so different it is often hard to fully understand the way they develop relationships. In America, the social norm is to smile at someone when passing them even if you have never met before.
