Madison was an important case because it estab... lished two important elements of constitutional law and how judiciary works today. The two elements are that if federal laws conflict with the U.S. Constitution, then they are deemed invalid and that judges are to determine whether laws are unconstitutional which is known as judicial review. Before this case, it was not clear on which branch of the government could make the final decision on what is and is not a constitutional law. Marbury V. Madison resolved the issue of judicial review and it involved the conflicting views of President John Adams and forthcoming President Thomas Jefferson. At the point when the case went to the Supreme Court, Chief Justice John Marshall took the side of Thomas Jefferson, in spite of being his political rival. Upon making his decision, After creation his choice, he accepted this as an open door to increase the power of the Supreme Court. Why did Chief Justice John Marshall make the decision he did?
