It is critical to consider the biblical perspective and meaning of marriage as it is a religious practice. The biblical creation story in the Garden of Eden forms the foundation of the institution of marriage. After man (Adam) was created, God established the need for a companion, and thus, a helper was created out of the man™s rib, and she was called Eve. Based on Christian teachings, the union of Adam and Eve is regarded to be the first marriage. Marriage was the product of a divine plan. Various biblical verses hint at marriage as seen in Genesis 2:24, where a man and woman come together in holy matrimony. In other verses, marriage is linked to bearing children, as seen in Genesis 1:27-28. Regardless, the Christian view of marriage establishes the constituents of marriage. Marriage is considered a typical bond between two persons through which they connect emotionally, sexually, mentally, and physically with each other.
