As a Mediator personality type I can spread myself to thinly and become overwhelmed by all the bad in the world; leaving me in a state of mild depression. Sheila Walsh ˜s book It™s Okay Not to Be Okay and some counseling taught me how to identify and get my emotional needs to pull myself out of that state of mild depression. Through this time of discovering my passion of emotional support; I developed a great level of empathy and understood its difference from sympathy. I discovered my passion of emotional support and my reason for going into the behavioral health field, through identify my emotional needs. I wanted to share my knowledge with younger people, so I join my churches junior high ministry; however, my mom saw a need in the foster care system. œAll foster children have one special need or another. Most foster children are in care due to abuse, neglect, or abandonment; those factors alone affect development (Williams, n.d., pp. 1). While being in foster care, children are more likely to get mental health help; œa child™s mental health issues don™t simply go away due to a change of scenery (Williams, n.d., pp. 2).
