It is said that theories are to help explain and predict behavior while providing help to the client. This paper will attempt to compare the three theories of Neo-analytic, Jungian, and Individual Psychology by explaining their goals, identifying their techniques, stages, and roles. Neo-analytic Neo-analytic approach is focused on the individual™s sense of self, also referred to the ego, as the core of personality. It originated from Freud™s model under his society but was modified by those who broke away from Freud™s approach. This modified approach focused on the function of the ego and how it interacts with other individuals as well as with their environment and society. This theory is represented by four variants which include the Ego Psychology, Object Relations, Self-Psychology, and Relational Psychoanalysis. Depending on which variant will depend on the specific goals. Ego Psychology tries to help make the unconscious conscious while simultaneously striving to improve the client™s adaptation to their world (Murdock, 2017).
