This is referred to as deductive reasoning or theory driven (Privitera, 2019). From there, they will figure out the best way to get answers to their questions by gathering data and then analyzing that data. In the article titled œHealth behaviors and outcomes associated with personal and family history of criminal justice system involvement, New York City, 2017 (Baquero, 2020), the researcher is interested in finding out if a person™s personal or family history with the criminal justice system correlates with any health issues or behaviors they may have. The study conducted involved utilizing a community health survey from New York in 2017 and randomly selecting individuals to interview by telephone (Baquero, 2020). Of those selected, approximately 85% participated. Interviewers used four different languages to communicate with the participants. During these phone interviews, subjects were asked two questions. The first question was if they have ever spent any time in the criminal justice system which would include jail, prison, or under parole or probation as a juvenile or adult.
