_Final_Project_Prep_4.docx Final Project Prep 4.5 By: Kylar Salvodon PSY105 Professor: Tanya Zink 44171 Social Psychology/ Bipolar Disorder Social psychology looks at how people affect one another through social interaction and how they affect each other (Spielman, 2017). Examining social psychology and bipolar disorder relates to stereotypes of the disease, remembering that many prejudices begin as a stereotype (Spielman, 2017), and there are many when it comes to bipolar disorder. 1.People with bipolar disorder frequently switch between manic and depressed moods “ this is not true. Their mood state does not often change, but they can experience a mixed state, both manic and depressed states (FDA, nd). 2.In an article authored by Howard (2018), he details how many believe he cant work, cant be in a stable relationship, and has to live with his parents, and nothing could be further from the truth. The stereotypes associated with these diseases make it difficult for those to convince people that they can function in social circles just like them and that over-generalizing and applying a stigma to everyone with the disease is unfair.
