(2018). The associations of poor psychiatric well-being among incarcerated men with injecting drug use histories in Victoria, Australia. Australia has had a rising prison population and the study investigates the needs of this susceptible population of dual-diagnosed individuals. Baseline interviews were used on 317 men who had prior history before incarceration of injecting drugs. 139 were categorized as having poor psychiatric health. A lot of different factors were asked about and the study concluded that at risk population needs a multidisciplinary treatment approach. There needs to be more screenings and triage available to people in prison who have a mental health disorder or a possible co-occurring disorder in order to give better treatment and reduce the reoffending risk.
