In the past it was physical objects such as reports, photos, money¦, fast forward to todays world and the only difference is those items are now digital, today we call them messages, photos, video, work projects or a school project. Safeguarding these things falls on the shoulders of the companies providing the digital services and the companies that use them. The ways in which they do this is called Disaster Recovery (DR) and exists so the business can have Business Continuity (BC), in the event their current processes and procedures are interrupted either from a natural disaster or digital disaster such as hacking, malware or insider threat. Lets define disaster recovery, œDisaster recovery is an organizations method of regaining access and functionality to its IT infrastructure after events like a natural disaster, cyber-attack, or even business disruptions related to the COVID-19 pandemic. A variety of disaster recovery (DR) methods can be part of a disaster recovery plan. DR is one aspect of business continuity. (VMware, 2021).
