Communication_Notebook.docx Communication Notebook COM200: Interpersonal Communication Week 1: Channels of Communication Step 1 - Describe the findings. Conversation with Danielle and Eric: The exchange was about a family vacation to the Beach for Christmas via facetime and how we enjoyed ourselves last year, which was an attempt to create shared meaning and motivate them to attend. There was an exchange of information about how to deal with the coronavirus issue. There would be planned activities or just staying indoors playing board games and enjoying each other's company. The facetime call with Danielle lasted 5min and 24 seconds. It was littered with distractions from her 4year old (noise source), which got in the way of the closeness felt in the conversation. The facetime call with Eric lasted 3minutes and 30 seconds. He was quick and to the point, and he was in the middle of work. The conversation felt disconnected, mostly since it was facetime, but the phone was sitting on his desk, so his face could not be seen. In the second part of the communication, the text message communication channel was used, meaning technology was employed to help a message travel (Bevan, 2020). The house being rented was shared through text messages and the cost associated with obtaining the residence. In both conversations, the feedback was slow, which made the connection null and void. The most satisfying was facetime. Even with the distraction, it was more personal.
