ECH321 Week 4 Assignment.docx ECH/321 Classroom Management University of Phoenix ECH/321 Developmentally Effective Learning Environments Title of Paper The first class that I observed was Ms. Carlees preschool classroom. Her class is made up of twenty, 3“4-year-old, students. The majority of the children come from military families but are diverse in race, religion and financial background. This class follows the Creative Curriculum, which is hands-on and lets the students explore. They follow the CESFEL (Center on the Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning) method and use redirection to stop unwanted behaviors and does not use punishments, such as time-outs. Ms. Carlees room was organized with centers spread around the perimeter of the room. In the back corner of the classroom is a large circular rug”this is where the students have large group time, such as the daily morning and afternoon circle time. The classroom is spaced out so that children are able to move around freely. There are no large open spaces that can encourage running. The classroom is set up so that Ms. Carlee and her assistant are able to always have the students in their line of sight. Materials and activities are all within the children reach and multiples are available. Social development is very important at this age and it is encouraged in the classroom. The children are encouraged to talk with one another and play.
