I was in the area of my back patio and large partially wooded back yard. If I recall correctly it was crispy morning with clear skies, not overly sunny. The physical environment didn't change during the reaction, as I didn't leave the general area, and it occurred quickly. Although my stress was so high, it was almost tangible. During the reaction, I recall the patchy grass in the yard from the lack of watering in the late summer season, and the dull roar of laughter as I was chased around the yard. A. 2. The stimulus that caused a trigger was my uncle popping up next to the patio with a freshly decapitated deer head from having processed his recent hunt. Processing deer together was a common act in my family. The moment of surprise quickly led to panic. A. 3. I experienced the flight reaction. After my immediate physical sensation, I gathered my thoughts and took off running. A. 4. My immediate reaction was muscles tightness, rapid breathing, and increasing heart rate. A. 5. The social situation before was just a small family gathering to assist the family process the meat from the latest hunt. This was a social situation we had done numerous times before and after this one incident. During my experience, the social situation was lively and fun for the other family members.
