In Part 1 of this assignment, a reading compreh... ension assessment was administered, and a result analysis was conducted. From that data, it was determined that the areas of concern centered within Vocabulary (VOC), Comprehension Informational Test (INFO), and Comprehension Literature (LIT). Table 1 below shows the assessment placement representation as to Phonological Awareness, Phonics, High Frequency Words, Vocabulary, Comprehension Literature and Comprehension Information Test. Students were below the national average in both comprehension categories and vocabulary placement. From the above assessment data, I identified five (5) learning targets and presented that information in PowerPoint to the English Language Arts Department, which was Assignment Part 2. Those standards to be targeted are: RL 6.1: Citing Textual evidence to support analysis; RL 6.2: Determine a theme or central idea of text; and RL 6.4: Determine the meaning of words and phrases throughout text-would be the targeted standards evaluated and accessed; RI 6.3 Analyze how and why individuals, events and ideas develop and interact over the course of the text; and RI 6.5 Analyze the structure of texts, including how specific sentences, paragraphs and larger portions of the text relate to each other or as a whole.
