Diagnostic criteria matched her fears of being around people in fear of being scrutinized or judged by those around her. This anxiety disorder led her to be put on medication, that may not be a fit especially since she in not receiving any counseling along with it. Anxiety medication can be very habit forming, I would recommend Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in conjunction with a non-habit forming, form of anxiety medication. I would also look to see if she has ever had previous substance abuse and also see if any of her immediate family has substance abuse issues as well. 2.According to the DSM 5 Karen is suffering from Alcohol Use Disorder. From the case study I was able to match her criteria to the DSM 5, she clearly puts herself in danger knowingly, and she hides her drinks for a reason even though it is apparent to all around her. Being she is currently using I recommend a in patient treatment that handles detox. After a successful detox we can move forward with a plan of therapeutic techniques along with some group therapy. 3.Based on the case study provided Mary is suffering from an anxiety condition called Mysophobia, also known as germaphobia, germophobia, bacteriophobia and bacillophobia. According to the DSM 5 this would fall into the category of an anxiety related disorder.
