To define it more clearly, œTelehealth, a term used interchangeably with telemedicine, has been defined as the use of medical information that is exchanged from one site to another through electronic communication to improve a patient™s health (Tuckson et al., 2017, p. 1585). Also, the rising use of telehealth has come about as a result of increased pressures by healthcare professionals and organizations to provide quality patient care while at the same time reducing costs (Telehealth Benefits and Barriers, 2021). My focus in this annotated bibliography is to explore telehealth and its impact on the safety and quality of patient care of people diagnosed with diabetes. It will mainly discuss different telehealth modalities and their ability to improve glycemic control in the diabetic population. Identifying Peer-Reviewed Articles In the Capella University Library (2021), I searched for peer-reviewed journal articles to provide evidence-based research for my chosen topic within the last five years. Using the Summons search engine, I accessed databases such as ProQuest Central, CINAHL, Pub Med, Ovid, and Exlibris.
