IT3355_Assignment2.docx IT3355 Unit 2 Assignment 2 WAN Diagram WAN Overview A network topology dictates how devices in a network link together, so it understandable that its impact on how well ... or how poorly a network functions is significant. MakerSource™s WAN relies on a full mesh topology. As the diagram illustrates, a full mesh topology ensures that each node is connected to every other node on a network. This topology provides the highest level of redundancy and is exceedingly reliable because if a link or node fails, data can be rerouted to allow network traffic to continue (Network Topologies | C2G, n.d.). Since this WAN will be utilized for long-distance communications between the company™s locations around the world, it will use serial transmissions, which is a method of transmitting bits of data sequentially over a single channel (Cabling the WAN, n.d.). Additionally, since this fully meshed WAN that uses frame relay, it will require a permanent virtual circuit (PVC) to connect all frame relay points on the network (Frame Relay Network Design, n.d.). The WAN devices will consist of Cisco 8202 core routers, some of which will be configured to act as frame relay switches (Configuring a Cisco Router as a Frame Relay Switch > Cisco Frame Relay Configurations, 2004). As for the LAN networks for each enterprise, they utilize a star-bus topology that are largely identical to each other, aside from the severs at the Seattle HQ locations. Since the WAN utilizes frame relay, T3 leased lines . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . .. .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . .
