As we draw nearer to el... ection day, many political figures have been voicing their opinions on how we will grow the economy, create jobs, and establish a society that creates equal opportunities for all. Many politicians express that the way to achieve these goals would be to create a free college for all policy (Chingos, 2016). However, many people believe that creating free tuition for all could be complicated due to the conflicting benefits and difficulties this could bring. Although tuition-free college would expand access to education, alternatives to studying at a university such as entrepreneurship, trade schools, apprenticeships, or attending a community college should be considered to avoid the many complications free college for all would bring. Beyond expanding access to education, there are many benefits an educated population would have on the country. Josephson (2018) argues that having a college education allows individuals to live happier, fuller lives as educated members of society. Education often leads to reduced poverty by increasing earnings and reducing economic inequalities. Education also allows people to live healthier lifestyles by enabling them to apply their knowledge of how to properly maintain their bodies and prevent illnesses.
