EFV GMA Task 1 Creating a BIP EFV GMA Task 1: Creating a BIP A. Choose one target behavior from your chosen case studys Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) A1: When an independent task is to diffi ... cult for Dexter he will flap his hands, raise his voice and begin yelling that he will not complete the task presented to him. A2: Any task that Dexter deems to be to difficult for him to complete. A3: Dexter uses this behavior as a way of escape or avoidance. A4: Dexter is removed from the classroom due to his disruptive behavior, therefor he gets to escape the difficult task. B. Develop a BIP for the behavior identified in Part A B1: Since Dexters behaviors stem from frustration with work he will be given a help sign to place on his desk. Anytime he is feeling overwhelmed and is needing assistance he can then place the help sign on his desk signaling to the teacher that he needs assistance with the assignment. While waiting he may keep his hands busy with one of the fidgets or stemming toys in his desk to help keep him calm. According to an article published in Project IDEAL an appropriate behavior in this situation would be to teach him to ask for help instead of avoiding it. Another appropriate behavior for him would be providing the fidget to keep his hands busy instead of flapping them around. “The new behavior to be taught must be carefully chosen by the teacher to be faster and more efficient than the problem behavior while meeting the same function for the student.†(Teaching Appr. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . .. .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . .
