Essentials of Advanced Nursing Practice Field Experience Essentials of Advanced Nursing Practice Field Experience A1-Purpose and Overview The purpose of the consultation with the clinical nurse l... eader was to gather and assess current departmental Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) scores and compare them with current nursing policies, procedures, and processes within the hospital to assist in a recommendation for an appropriate intervention to improve overall patient outcomes and safety. The consultation with the Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) provided an overview of the hospital and units strengths and weaknesses to assist in the change process to improve patient outcomes. In addition, the CNL provided HCAHPS data, current information in reference to unit specific evidence-based projects and insight to current quality improvements. Data gathered from the CNL and data collected from Texas Health Resources (THR) webpage will be discussed. A2-Description of Organization The Richardson 6thÂ floor is part of Texas Health Resources of Fort Worth which is a 28-bed unit that primarily cares for a select group of postoperative surgical patients that range from adolescent to geriatric. The floor serves as a postoperative surgical floor that is designed and responsible for the coordination of care directed through physician orders and care guidelines.
