HAT 1 Emergency Response Running head: EMERGENCY RESPONSE HAT 1 Emergency Response HAT 1 Role of Public Health Personnel The residents of Franklin County now have many needs after the storm. Public health personnel will intervene to deal with the aftermath that immediately follows a horrible natural disaster such as, the disaster in Franklin County. Furthermore, the role of the public health personnel is to take care of the community. It is their job to ensure the public that all is being done to help, save, serve and protect affected victims from further harm or injury. In order for the public health officials to accomplish this, they would have to initiate the emergency response phase. During the emergency response phase the public health team will rescue, triage and transport injured victims to appropriate treatment centers and hospitals. The public health nurse may be one of the first responders to affected victims in the emergency response phase. Additionally, public health personnel will communicate with the public through media responses to inform the community of the severity of the situation. The public health nurse is responsible for assessment and evaluation of the residents. During assessment, the nurse will pay close attention to residents that are in the need of abrupt resources.
