PROFESSIONAL ACCOUNTABILITY 3.docx Professional Accountability: Task 1 Western Governors University A A nursing theory that I am influenced by is Florence Nightingales environmental theory. The environment has a strong influence on the patients outcome. The environment includes noise, air, ventilation, light, cleanliness, nutrition, bedding, variety, sturdy building, and not chatting hopes and advice (Petiprin, 2016). These are basic human needs and without them a patient wont properly heal, and it is my goal to do my best to provide these to every one of my patients daily to help them recover from illness. The nurse will provide patients with clean air provided by modern day air conditioning and sunlight can come through the window of the patients room. The nurse will keep noise levels down for adequate rest. The room is cleaned, bedding is changed, and patients are bathed daily. Nurses wash their hands before and after entering the patients room. Nurses include a nutrition plan specific to each patients needs. Nurses consider the patients culture when making a care plan and have empathy while being positive but not giving false hope. I work in surgery which has a special air circulation system to keep germ growth down. I keep the patient warm by applying a warming blanket and continually monitoring their temperature. Noise is kept to a minimum so I can hear the patients vital signs and to help keep the patient calm before going under anesthesia.
