Review of the Literature The researchers used 25 articles to support their research. To support the researchers study they wanted to know how the help pediatric patient with pain postoperatively. Despite new drugs and new techniques postoperative pain has been a challenge. The researchers questioned whether there a lack of training and or experience. Was the anesthesiologist unable to quantify the pain adequately and with the respect to postoperative analgesia a low expectation (Brasher et al., 2014). They wondered if there was an inter-patient perception in pain variability and the requirement of analgesia (Mohammed et al., 2012; Song et al., 2016). Data Analysis The data was analyzed by using the t-test, Mann-Whitney U test and either the X2 or Fishers exact test for variables categorical and continuous. IBM SPSS Statistics 21 was used for statistical analysis (SPSS Inc., IBM Corporation, Armonk, NY, USA). They wanted to see if using preemptive pain relief would be helpful in reducing postoperative pain in children (Song et al., 2016).
