It stands for patient/population/problem, intervention, comparison of potential interventions, outcomes, and if relevant, time frame. The goal of applying this method is to guide search for evidence towards a solution for a specific problem, by developing a research question (RQ). “A well formulated RQ can improve the clarity of the problem, guide decision plans, enhance chances of finding the solution, inform study design, help to anticipate the issues and needed resources, increase the efficiency of the research process, enhance the likelihood of publication, and enhance the clarity of the thought process in developing the research plan.” (Abbade, et al., 2017, p. 2). This paper will discuss the management of psychiatric patients with behavioral disturbances. Management of Psych Patients using the PICO(T) Method The focus of this paper is the management of the behavior of psychiatric patients in a behavioral crisis. In my most recent experience as a new grad nurse, I have encountered several psychiatric patients. I am on a med-surg/covid-19 unit and we have attended to many psychiatric patients experiencing behavioral crisis, some cognizant of this and many not.
