CJ102 Unit4_Journal__2_.docx CJ102: Journal Unit 4 Journal Unit 4 This unit I learned about developmental theories which include life course theory, propensity theory/latent trait theory and the trajectory theory (Siegel, 2018, p. 288). The life course theory is based off that people have several traits which fall under these 3 aspects social, psychological, and economic (Siegel, 2018, p. 288). It says people change throughout their life and their behavior id influenced by family, jobs, and their peers (Siegel, 2018, p. 288). Propensity theory/latent trait theory says people dont change that opportunities for to commit crimes change and that a higher level of maturity decreases the opportunities to commit crime (Siegel, 2018, p. 288). This theory claims that there is a master trait that one has includes personality, level of intelligence, and genetics (Siegel, 2018, p. 288). This theory believes that with social control at an early stage and good parenting can decrease â€œcriminal propensityâ€ (Siegel, 2018, p. 288). Trajectory theory believes that there is more than one way to ones career in crime and that there are different types of â€œoffenders and classes of offendingâ€ (Siegel, 2018, p. 288). I also learned about population heterogeneity and state dependence. Population heterogeneity is a trait that never changes some can be violent, commit crimes, bad tempered and others ae very reasonable, not agitated easily and abide by the law (Siegel, 2018, p. 288).
