Health care coverage is a luxury that provides cushion against the incredible costs that ensue when seeking medical attention. Health insurance agencies are funded by the number of consumers that they service. They receive monthly dues otherwise known as insurance premiums from consumers regardless of whether or not the coverage was utilized during that period of time. Deductibles are usually driven based off the premium, the higher the premium the lower the deductible and vice versa. It is the insurance premiums and deductibles that finance the agencies and allow them to cover the high costs of healthcare when such services are needed. Typically, the total number of consumers largely outweighs those who actually require care and so the gross income of these agencies is high.
