HU250_Unit9Assignment.docx Unit 9 Assignment Purdue University Global HU250 Unit 9 Assignment Both sides of my family are rich with history and family traditions and there is no lack of experie... nces to pull from and share. On my Fathers side, our family is one-hundred percent Polish descent,with my Grandparents being the first generation to be born in the United States. On my Mothers side, we have a mix of cultures but Canadian Native American and German/English are the main heritages that we inherit. Recently I was able to put together a family tree for both sides of my lineage through Ancestry.com, and shared parts of it with my Grandparents and my parents. We found out some very interesting facts that shed new light on our heritage but gained more clarity on where some of our traditions that have been passed down originated from. These pieces of our culture include smudging (a form of ceremonial tradition), group circles at Thanksgiving, and creating elaborate posters for homecomings and family get-together events where each tradition is passed down through the ages.Most of our ancestors on my Mothers side originated in Canada as Native Americans that lived off the land and eventually traveled into the United States before the immigration from Europe took place. You could say that that part of my family is considered to be a part of the original Americans, and they eventually settled in the Michigan area.
