Each interview type has its own purpose and allows the interviewer to narrow down the candidates and find the best fit. The different types of interviews help to highlight or showcase an applicants strengths or weaknesses; as well as determine whether the applicant is qualified for the job. Whether its an exploratory, phone screening, video screening, HR, departmental. Panel, peer or stress interviews, each style has its pros and cons. However, stress interviews should just be avoided (Artur,2012). A combination of more than one interview type is the best way to find the best candidate for the job. The combination that works best is as follows phone/video interview, individual interview, peer interview and panel interview; the order of the last will vary depending on the position.
