Its primary goal was to permit a typical technique of interfacing terminal devices and terminal oriented methods to each other. Telnet is not much protected and its recommended that it shouldnt be used over the internet. Connecting telnet to a router or switch much is the same procedure. To telnet on Windows, you can install using the Windows Features control panel using command prompt. Telnet does require a vty password to be set, which is a safety measure set by Cisco. The cisco aux port is added as in additional or backup async port. This is mostly used as a dialup port for remote router management, you will need the same cable as a telephone line to establish this connection. It can be used the same as a console port, using a tool like HyperTerminal can be used to get access with this selection.
