One particularly is language barriers. Language barriers are imperative to overcome due to the inimical impact both internally and externally. This is because communication is critical for employees to learn how to do their jobs, understand organizational standards, and to receive feedback from superiors to improve performance (Madera, Dawson, & Neal, 2014). This becomes increasingly more important as we enter a more globalized society in which internal communication among different regions and cultures may be required. Be sure to know that an organization that does not confront their language barriers will potentially have to face the consequences. Language barriers can cause huge dissatisfaction with the quality of communication among employees which can in turn lead to negative feedback, frequent absences from work, burnout and stress, and a higher employee turnover rate (Madera, Dawson, & Neal, 2014). As well, this can result in a lack in collaboration among other employees which can result in projects being delayed, never finished, or finished in poor quality. One thing that must be noted is that these language barriers can influence how you communicate externally as well.
