COM_500_Final_Project_Milestone.docx 4-3 Final Project Milestone One There are four basic models of communication: the action model, the interaction model, the transactional model, and the convergence model. The action model is the most basic model because it is one dimensional. The model assumes that the listeners have the ability to listen and interpret the message. An example of the model is a television or a radio. In contemporary communication, I feel like this model slowly started to phase out as technology advanced. Now you can comment or respond to practically anything. Television networks and radio stations now have social media platforms to engage with their viewers which allows dialogue between the two parties. The following model is the interaction model which is between a sender and a receiver. This model allows for a line of feedback between the sender and receiver. An example of this model is online shopping or iMessage. This model was enforced by technological advances because it is centered around internet interactions. The next model is the transaction model which is when the sender and receiver are simultaneously responding. This model happens often as social creatures, we create interpersonal relationships frequently. In contemporary communication, the transaction model I feel happens less often due to people being addicted to their phones. You could be in a room full of people and everyone could be on their phones instead of engaging with others in the room.
