The intended purpose of this biography, “William Blake” is to merely review the life of the renowned poet and to enlighten the public about his life, influence, and his works. The scholar’s ov... erall claim is that William Blake is well aware of his environment and uses that as a key element within his works since, “no [other] poet has been more sensitive or responsive to the realities of the human condition and of his time,” ("Blake, William" p1-1). In order to better comprehend his claim, background information was provided to support and show how Blake’s character influences the works of the romanticism era. Being born in 1757, Blake was immersed in a heightened period of artists and writers that utilized their views of nature and the vulnerability of humanity in order to create pieces that defined the romanticism era. At an early age, Blake was immediately exposed to art since his father encouraged him to partake in drawing and helped him hone onto this abilities by sending him to an art school ("Blake, William" p1-1). Since his father did not pressure him to live his life towards the act of obtaining success through academic education or relying on trade skills, he was able to adhere to what his heart desired: art. Blake grew up in a vitalizing environment that openly embraced and fortified the ideas of artistic liberation. With such freedom and lack of distractions, he was able to focus on drawing motivation and inspiration for his pieces.
