Nursing Theory With Influence On My Values and Goals A nursing theory that has made an impact on my values and goals... in the nursing profession is the self-care deficit model. Dorthea Orem developed this theory in 1971. The idea of the theory is that nursing intervention is aimed at assisting the patient to regain their ability or to regain the maximum potential ability of the patient to maintain self-care and independence.
