They then believed that American colonies were not paying enough taxes. This angered American colonies. They said they had €œtaxation without representation € as they were not represented in the Parliament overseas. These taxes included taxes on paper and tea. For years, American colonists saw themselves as British. Although, after the Seven Years War, they started to see how Britain began to treat them as inferior. After the unfair treatment and taxes, American colonies started to boycott British goods like drinking coffee instead of tea.
