I have selected to invest ... igate, “Social factors that contribute to and/or perpetuate addiction” for my final project. More specifically, I chose to narrow it down to treatment for addicts and what works best. This subject is significant because many people in today's society suffer from some form of addiction. Addiction comes in many different types and is a complex condition that can have harmful consequences but is manifested by compulsive substance use (Parekh, 2017). Because the overall rate of prescription drug use has increased 51 percent between 1999 to 2000 and 59 percent from 2011 to 2012 (The JAMA Network Journals, 2015), it is understandable how more people are becoming addicted. With the increased use of drugs only continuing to grow, we need to know how to help those that become addicted. Even though there has been a lot of research done on addiction and treatment, there are still so many questions left unanswered. I would like to know whether voluntary treatment or mandated treatment is more successful, long term. Describe at least three social science resources that you could use to investigate the issue you selected. Your sources must be relevant to your issue and must be of an academic nature appropriate for the issue. In your description, consider questions such as: What are the similarities and differences in the content of your sources? What makes them appropriate and relevant for investigating your issue?
