Even though Black Americans were €œfree,€ they still had no real rights such as voting, dining with whites, sharing the same schools, and faced violence towards them. As the rise of color came into the picture, everyday life seemed to be sucked away from Black Americans. Imagine wanting to go out to eat, but suddenly every restaurant has a €œNo Blacks€ sign hanging up; even if they did allow blacks, they would be forced outside by the alleyway.
