One of the most common psychological disorders in children is ADHD. While ADHD is common in children, adults do get diagnosed as well. There are several reasons behind the rise in diagnoses. Some of those reasons include a rise in pharmaceutical demands, better trained doctors to recognize symptoms, and/or rule/policy changes which have made a somewhat direct influence. Policy changes that have affected the rise in ADHD diagnoses stem from the recognition of ADHD in the American Individuals with Disabilities Education Act of 1991.
