Leadership defined by the Army is: influencing people by providing purpose, direction, and motivatio ... n while operating to accomplish the mission and improving the organization. This Army philosophy of leadership is called "Be, Know, Do". "Be" is being who you are, a leader of character. This describes his or her inner strengths to always do the right things, regardless of the circumstances while also reflecting upon behavior. "Know" is recognizing the skills that are necessary in his or her success. We can classify these four types of skills as interpersonal, which is the knowledge of people and how to work with them, conceptual is the ability to understand and apply the doctrine required to do one's job, technical would be the knowledge of how to use equipment, and tactical skills are the mastery of the art of tactics.
