Describe one area needing assessment in th... e organizations health information management (HIM) workflow. The Release of Information(ROI) step in the HIM workflow is one area in need of assessment. Currently, the organization has concerns with the sharing of patient charts between three hospitals and a central business office downtown. The interchange of records between the entities is currently being handled by a courier service. The HIM staff has complications with the upkeep of records and responding to ROI requests. Some of the complications include timely fulfillment of requests from patients, attorneys, and auditors. The ROI process is vital to the quality of the continuity of care provided to the patient and has a critical role in billing, report, research, and other functions (Bock, Demster, Dinh, Gorton, & Lantis, 2008).
