C918_Task_1A___ANE_Interview.docx ANE Interview Guide Western Governors University C918: Evolving Roles of Nurse Educators in Diverse Environments ANE Interview On November 14, 2020, I took part in a virtual interview with Megan Wolfe, DNP, MS Ed., FNP-C, RN, CMSRN, CNE, an academic nurse educator (ANE). The virtual interview entailed Megan answering questions in a round robin style with myself and two other students. Megan based her answers on her role as an assistant professor at Onondaga Community College, where she was a clinical instructor,as well as teaching instructor for Med-Surg IV and skills lab.This program was atwo yearassociate level nursing program. The interview discussed Megans experience as an educator in an academic setting and explored her role in facilitating student learning. Core Interview Questions 1.What are the qualities most needed to be a successful academic nurse educator? You need so much organization. The emails are nonstop, probably like a hundred a day. And since this program is a face-to-face program, I have had to learn how to juggle drive-by hallway questionsand redirecting students. I also think that educator have to be very good at not taking things super personally. Theres always drama or a meltdown, and with a class of 80 students, you have to be very good at managing the emotional component associated with nursing school.
