Healthcare organizations and healthcare providers, are held up to specific standards to provide safe, efficient and functional environment for patients and the community. The Joint Commission is one of the primary institutions that inspects, validates, audits and help improve performance of healthcare organizations and providers. Overall, their practice is based on scientific literature, and expert consensus. Their goal is to provide safe and quality patient care within the States (Joint Commission, September 11, 2017). Infection Control is one of the most important aspects of health care organizations. Preventing microorganisms to spread between patient and staff as well as patient to patient can be prevented by many different ways. However, the most important way of preventing infections disease is regularly washing hands. Simple hand washing is a very effective way of preventing cross-contaminations. Using gloves is not enough to prevent infection alone. Appropriate hand washing proved to prevent infection control dramatically. Invasive procedures (such as surgery, central vein access), improper antibiotic usage, and overall physical cleanliness of the facility also impact the risks of infectious disease (Richards, 2016).
