Data Warehouse Plan.docx Data Warehouse Plan DAT/390 Data Warehouse Plan The goal is to transform our current operational structure into a data structure that is capable of handling a large volume of data. The reason we elected to utilize a data warehouse is because we need it exclusively for reporting. The beginning point for our transformation starts with the area of extraction or where data is collected. We can collect it from the internet, disbursements, recipients, spreadsheets and flat files. So here we are extracting data from the various sources that will then be stored into the data warehouse database. A way to elevate the process is to utilize ETL which stands for extract transform load which is crucial process when it comes to a data warehouse. With ETL we extract data from the sources where data is cleaned which is how it becomes transformed. Now once the data is transformed it can then be loaded into the data warehouse. Utilizing ETL ensures the integrity of data because it is thoroughly extracted and optimized prior to be loaded into the data warehouse which is necessary for reporting and decision making. We incorporate this process because it helps with integrating the data into the data warehouse. Although data is not normalized we still want it to have a meaning and purpose, so when it comes time to reporting we are able to come up with appropriate solutions based on the data. Once the data is integrated into the data warehouse to help offset the volume of data we incorporate. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . .. .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . .
