Many people who were not first responders quickly volunteered their time, sweat,, and their tears in helping those victims that were stranded in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Watching what had unfolded in the wake of Hurricane Katrina , many people from all over wanted desperately to get involved with the rescue mission volunteering to do whatever was needed in removing stranded victims out of New Orleans. Not only did first responders were on the scene of rescuing stranded people but secondary responders like engineers, the Coast Guard, and a local group from the Acadiana area called the Cajun Navy, which is a Louisiana based group who volunteers their private boats in assisting with the search and the rescue efforts throughout Louisiana and anywhere else they are needed.
