It is used to gain an understanding on how human beings experience the world. The approaches of qualitative research include action research, narrative research, ethnography, and phenomenological research. The methods include observations, interviews, focus groups survey and secondary research. Quantitative research on the other hand involves the collecting and analysis of data that is numerical. It is used in finding averages and patterns, tasting causal relationships, making predictions, and generalizing results to a wider population. The methods of quantitative research can be used for experimental, correlational, and descriptive research. The methods for collecting qualitative data include experiment, survey, and secondary research.
