APN professional development 1 .docx NR500 Advanced Practice Nurse Professional Development Chamberlain College of Nursing NR500NP Foundational Concepts and Advanced Practice Role Advanced Practice Nurse Professional Development An APN professional development plan is kind of a check off system to help you meet the intended goals without any last minute surprises. This plan can be comprised of several different key points. I will discuss the North Carolinas nurse practitioner scope of practice, education, certification and actual requirements for licensure. I will also discuss competencies and leadership skills needed to provide patient centered care that is based on evidence based practice. This will not only lead to safe care but quality care. We have learned that APN roles consist of 4 main areas, Certified nurse practitioner (CNP), clinical nurse specialist (CNS), certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA), and my desired area certified nurse practitioner (CNP). The National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF) was established as a support for CNP educators when it was realized that there needed to be a standardized curriculum to provide high quality evidence based care. The intent of this paper is to serve as a roadmap for me towards my goal of CNP. APN Scope of Practice After graduation I plan on practicing in the state of North Carolina.
